The Pubs History

SERVING THE VILLAGE FOR CENTURIES

The pub started life as the Eagle Inn back in 1760 and has changed names and ownership throughout the years including being owned by Woodfordes Brewery in the 1980's.

When Landladies Dawn and Denise opened the doors in 2019 after a few years of the pub standing empty they renamed the pub back to The Spread Eagle.

Meet Dawn & Denise

THE LANDLADIES

We are both Norfolk born and bred girls and were living in Erpingham, when the pub was sadly closed and we were very saddened by this and decided after the pub had been shut for 2 years , that the village badly needed it back !

After much discussion and whilst on holiday in April 2018 , Dawn decided to buy the pub and finally got the keys in May 2019. The Spread Eagle Freehouse started trading again on 1st November 2019. Thanks to all of our loyal supporters, we are still standing strong as a traditional freehouse pub
